Our Curriculum - Port Augusta Secondary School
As a large secondary school we are able to offer a wide range of academic and vocational subjects so that students can choose a University, TAFE or a Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway. The school has developed processes and practices that are distinctive and based on the learning practices for young adolescent students in the Middle School and for young adult students in the Senior School.
The Years 8-10 Curriculum has been designed to provide all students with a broad experience that will enable them to make informed subject for Years 11-12 Subject content aligns with the Australian Curriculum which sets out what all young people should be taught through the specification of curriculum content and the learning expected through the achievement standards.
In years 11 and 12, courses are based on the curriculum designed and assessed by the South Australian SACE Board. Students study a combination of compulsory and non-compulsory subjects to complete the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). Students may also undertake nationally recognised certificates in Vocational Education and Training (VET) at the same time as they complete their SACE.
