Hello everyone, and welcome to the start of the school year. My name is Adam Wilson, and I am delighted to be joining you as the Acting Principal of Port Augusta Secondary School for Semester 1, 2026. Having lived in Port Augusta for the past 11 years, I am honoured to now be in the position of Principal at our town’s high school. I believe my experience as Principal of Stirling North Primary School during this time will enable me to bring a variety of engaging and exciting initiatives to our school.

At the beginning of the year, I was reminded of how daunting it can be to start at a new school. I empathise with our new Year 7 students, as well as those joining us in other year levels from different schools. It is important to recognise that these feelings are completely normal. While such transitions can be challenging, they also help us grow and build resilience.

I am pleased to announce that our school community worked hard last year to consult with students, staff, and parents in developing our new school values. These values will guide our behaviour, both professionally and socially, and students will have many opportunities to develop the skills needed to embed these values into their daily routines. Our new values are:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Relationships
  • Learning

I am sure you will agree that if our students consistently demonstrate these values, both in and out of school, we will create a safe and enjoyable learning environment. Rather than following hundreds of rules, it is much simpler and more meaningful to live by demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, building strong Relationships, and engaging actively in Learning.

Supporting children through their school journey can be challenging. It can be difficult to know everything that is happening and to provide support when issues arise—as they inevitably will, which is a normal part of childhood and adolescence. Attached to this article is a list of names, photos, and email addresses of our Executive Leadership Team. Please remember, the first point of contact for any concerns should be your child’s care group teacher.

Thank you for choosing Port Augusta Secondary School. I look forward to working with you throughout this semester.

Adam Wilson

Principal
